I own an independent bookstore and receive lots of books that are simply at the end of their lives. Old investment books from before the financial crash, books with cracked binding, or missing pages start to pile up in the corner. So, I decided to be creative and upcycle these books into something fun. I built a frame out of 2×4’s and plywood to provide a stable base. I added rows of books and used a pneumatic framing nailer to secure the books to the frame and one another....

When Elizabeth Diamond was diagnosed with stage-four brain cancer in August 2014, she was worried about what might happen if she died. Her best friend Laura Ruffino, whom she had known since 5th grade, promised to adopt the girls if anything were to happen – and when Diamond, a single mother, passed away in April 2015, Ruffino fulfilled her promise. Now, Ruffino’s family of 4 (along with her husband and two daughters) has doubled in size, and the local community in Orchard Park, NY is coming together to help them out....

We have designed this bar in Italy, inspired by Kraken, which is perhaps the largest monster ever imagined by mankind. In Nordic folklore, it was said to haunt the seas from Norway through Iceland and all the way to Greenland. Of course, to be worth its salt, a monster needs to have a taste for human flesh.
