I love the 3D effect, and often draw animals on paper in 3D. I decided to experiment and see if I could create something that actually comes out of the portrait frame.
I painted the animal on canvas and then created a 3D “arm” with different light-weighted materials such as wool, ribbons, and string so that it wouldn’t be too heavy. It takes hours to complete but I find it extremely enjoyable to create.
Having completed a 3D sloth and monkey, I feel inspired to try other animals- perhaps an elephant or a horse with video on YouTube.
